It's All in the Family

We have a 4th Pi Phi in the family now...not like she had much of a choice though being a triple legacy and all, but I don't think she minds!

Here we all are, L&A and I sporting our Bid Day shirts from our freshman years. Mine was voted best of all...I think it was the glittered wings. It was so fun to watch all the new girls interacting with each other; they are in for some great memories!

Brett even joined in on the excitement. Here he is in shirt #1...this was the shirt that made him a baby superstar. He was definitely the most popular boy there. All the girls loved it and he loved all the attention.

And here he is with shirt #2; homemade by Grammy. It was his special Aunt Linny shirt. What a little ham...can you tell he loved the attention?!?!

New Tricks

Here I go again with my favorite saying, it's amazing how much Brett changes every day! These should have been posted a couple months ago, but life gets in the way of that...

Around 7 months Brett started clapping his hands and now he claps at everything. He loves the music and dances and claps along everytime. A week after he started daycare, so right before he turned 7 months he learned to crawl. Slow and steady at first and before we knew it he was as fast as lightening (not quite, but pretty close). When he "disappears" around our house we know exactly where he is, either under one of our side tables or "playing" with the computer in our room, his two favorite spots.

At 8 months, Scott and I were surprised to find Brett like this after his nap. We were so excited that he was pulling himself up, but the excitment soon turned to panic as I realized we needed to lower the mattress. And then I failed to tell his teachers so naptime turned into a panic situation for them as well when Brett decided he was going to pull himself up and rip off his mobile.

And last night he stood by himself for about 2 seconds...

Oh and Brett's favorite new trick of all is his "funny face". It's more of a scarey, bobble head dance move but we'll just stick with "funny face". And don't worry if you haven't seen it, you will before too long, he does it for everyone he sees...it's like his famous move. Before too long everyone will be saying do the "the Brett face".

First Boo-Boo

Well we knew we were going to get the call sooner or later and it just came sooner..."Brett, has a gash on his face and we think he needs stitches." Of course, I didn't answer my phone because I can never hear it ring (don't worry, this was the day I gave them my work numbers) so Scott was on his way to get him before I ever knew what was going on.

Of course, when I finally talked to Scott this is how our conversation went:

Scott - What should I do? Take him to urgent care/ER?

Me - I don't know, what about his pediatrician?

Scott - His pediatrician isn't a surgeon.

Me- Wait...why are you asking me this, aren't you the doctor?

Scott - Oh yeah, ok, I'll take care of it.

And that's exactly what he did. Cleaned it up, put a butterfly over it and topped it off with a band aid.

Apparently, after an incident like that both the doctor and patient need an icee.

And it just happens to be a coincidence that I wasn't much older than Brett, when I too got my first boo boo in the exact spot that Brett got his, just on the opposite eyebrow.

Guess I'm in for a lifetime of "feel better icees"!

Happy 9 Months Baby Boy

It's hard to believe that Brett will be 36 weeks on Sunday. I've said it 100x before and I'll probably say it a billion more, but time really does fly once you have babies and I think it's just seeing all the changes they go through in such a short period of time. And another line I'll use a million more times is "How did my baby get this big?".

Brett is now in to everything and he's not even walking...oh, what I get to look forward to. He crawls all over the house, pulls himself up on everything and when he's really feeling like a daredevil, he'll try to stand on his own. We've lowered his bed to the lowest level which really means he's not a baby anymore : (

Last week, he had his first accident. Daddy made the call that no stitches would be required and hooked him up with a butterfly and a cool Scooby-Doo band-aid. It's probably going to be his first scar, right above his eyebrow, so I guess it's a good thing he's a boy since boys think it's cool to have cuts and scars. (I'll eventually get around to posting a picture...he looks so sweet with his little band-aid)

A couple days before the gash incident, his teachers told us all about how he just won't stop talking. He was keeping everyone up during nap time because he was standing up in his crib and chatting with all the kids around him. It's official, I have a Scott Jr. on my hands...and for those of you who don't know, every nine weeks my in-laws were told Scott is so sweet and we love having him in class, but he just won't stop talking. I don't think it's a good sign that it's starting with us at 8months old!

It's so cute now everytime I get home from work Brett starts clapping his hands and bouncing up and down. He's really starting to recognize everyone and show his emotions more. He and Bailey are starting to "play" more; their favorite game is tug-of-war with Lamby. Brett still loves his bathtime, but now he gets to sit up and play with all of his toys. We're starting more finger foods and the other night I thought he was swallowing the peas, but turns out he was just storing them in his cheeks; needless to say, Bailey got a lot of scraps that night.

So yes, my baby is officially a little boy....dare I even say...almost toddler?!?!

Pardon the "Blause"

Blogging Pause that is. And I wish I could take credit for that hysterical play on words, but that comes courtesy of a former co-worker of mine. When these blauses occur I don't even know where to begin...stories, pictures, do I just ignore my life and start fresh!?! Today, I'm going for tidbits of information.

1) From the last post, yes I went back to work, yes I was terrified, yes I thought the mornings/evenings would be a disaster along with my house and the laundry BUT good news the Kochenowers are very resilient especially the shortest one! I love working again, Brett loves day care and Scott loves that we love it. Oh and Bailey loves that she has the house to herself for a solid 8 hours.

Tidbit 1 brought to you by the word "love".

2) We've almost been back in Oklahoma for 3 months and so far so good. It has been different, however, going from seeing family 3-4 times a year to 1-2 times a week. It's the best kind of different though! I definitely don't feel the same way about our "different" electric bill...

We had pictures taken with Brett's cousins and just for a smile I thought I would share with you what was captured...and in case you don't know, Brett puts everything in his mouth now, the proof is below.

And for a laugh....my favorite picture ever.
