It's in His Genes

Full-time job = No time for blog

Sorry folks, New Year's resolution is to post more often. The point of the blog though was to keep our family in Oklahoma updated on everything that was going on, but now that we're back around everyone, it seems to have slipped to the wayside.

This post is way out of order, but since it requires no pictures it's first on my list.

Brett had his 12 month well visit the other day and all I can say is it's in his genes.

  • Height - 33 inches, off the charts percentile (At this rate, Dr. guestimated he will be 6'4" or 6'5")

  • Weight - 25 lbs, 75%

  • HC - perfectly proportionate to height (Drs words not mine, cough cough Laura & Ali cough)

  • 6 words: Dada, Mama, Dog, Hi, Bye Bye, Ball and I think he said tree when we had our Christmas tree up, but he hasn't said it since

  • The Dr asked if Brett was taking steps, well, as everyone knows the child is running! So naturally, Scott & I just looked at each other and in unison with a little laugh and a bit of sarcasm said "Um, yeah".

  • He loves to eat...everything and has taken very well to whole milk.

  • Brett is now in the 1 year old room at daycare, the first week was a little rough adjusting to one nap and sleeping on a cot instead of in a crib, but he adjusted quickly and is doing really well. He's all about it now since he's discovered that the "big kids" get to play outside, which just happens to be his new favorite thing!

  • The past 2 weeks he has turned into a climbing machine, last night Scott found him in one of the drawers in the kitchen and apparently he's always on the tables at daycare. He must get it from his Daddy, because he's not scared of anything, unlike me who is cautious as can be.

  • He loves Bailey and just laughs and laughs when she's running around the living room playing with her toys. He loves his wagon & car especially when we go around the block. He still loves to cuddle (that is when HE wants to). He sleeps from 7:30 to whenever we wake him up which is usually around 7.

So that's what Brett's up to these days, I promise Christmas and Birthday pictures and stories to come soon.

Thankful

It was hard to believe that this year was our first Thanksgiving home in 5 years. While we spent the last years with our Chicago and Cleveland "families", this year we enjoyed bouncing from house to house to see all of our family.

While our list of what we are thankful for extends for miles and miles, Scott and I both agree that this little guy is definitely at the top. He definitely brings more joy to our lives and a smile to our hearts than ever imaginable.

And because it's too funny not to share and the fact that this post was getting a little too weepy for me, I give you this:

Apparently Brett did NOT want his picture taken.

Random Thoughts

Today I was thinking back to this time last year and just realized how much has changed in 1 year. One thing that immediately came to mind:

My hair is now shorter.

Oh yeah, and I don't have a gigantic belly!

And then after seeing this picture, I rememberd how much snow we had last year and how weird it is that I didn't even wear a coat yesterday.

In conclusion some changes are awesome like not wearing maternity clothes and having a baby (err, uh, toddler) and some are not.... here's to wishing for a white Christmas!

Firs OU Game Day

We took Brett to his very first game day yesterday to cheer on the Sooners! He absolutely loved it. He ate hot dogs, took a little snooze, played with his Nerf football and even met Sooner!

We can't wait for many more gamedays with our little Sooner!

Boomer Sooner!!!
