Baby Got Hips

Well, I definitely don't have "back", my "back" will be forever flat. But I definitely have the hips and they just keep growing, and growing, and growing, and you get the picture. I have now morphed into something more than a pear, maybe a butternut squash?!?! Let's just say maybe it's a good idea if I invest in this after the little guy is born:

It's guaranteed to work right? Right? Anyone?

20 Week Pictures at 21 Weeks

I have been visiting the great state of Oklahoma for the last week and of course forgot my camera hookup to download my pictures to the computer. So here I am at 20 weeks, but today I am actually 21 weeks.

I learned this week that my body can no longer endure the 100+ degree weather, but rather prefers the cold. Good news though, I did not have a heat stroke. Next summer could be a long summer as I try to reacclimate myself to the excessive heat! Oh yeah, and the bugs. Oh the bugs! Last night I even dreamed that a gigantic June Bug was chasing after me. On second thought what are we doing moving back, maybe we should just stay here in the mild, bug free North........................

Nah! I'll take the heat and bugs any day to be back home!

It's a BOY

We had our 2nd trimester ultrasound last Thursday and my intuition was confirmed, it's a BOY! We're so excited, now we can start picking out names, nursery themes, and of course buying cute little boy things. It's amazing how much he grew from our last ultrasound at 12 weeks. We were able to see his cute little face, hands, and feet so clearly. He weighed 10 ounces and his heartbeat was 155, all of his measurements were exactly as they should be for 19 weeks. I don't have the ultrasound pictures scanned yet, but I promise I will post by the end of the week.

For right now here's me & Scott after our appointment:

Scott had to go back to work after our appointment, but wee wanted to tell everyone together so to keep myself occupied while he was working, I went shopping! I controlled myself and only bought 2 outfits, perfect for next spring and summer.

I go for my 20 week check-up tomorrow and will get to hear his heartbeat again. Now let's just hope I am still on target with my weight gain. I splurged a lot this weekend so I'll probably be over!

First Maternity Top

Here I am yesterday (18 weeks and 5 days) in my first maternity top:

Almost all of my pre-pregnancy clothes still fit me, but my mother-in-law sent me some cute new tops so I had to wear one. Come to find out it's way comfortable! Maybe I should be wearing more maternity clothes.

*Disclaimer: I realize my hair is curly in most of my pics. I have not had a haircut in 5 months so needless to say it is easier to let my hair dry curly than spend an hour blow drying and straightening. I have a hair appt next week, I promise straight hair is in sight. (Laura, this was for you.)

Weekend Happenings

Well I should have knocked harder on the wood! The week did not get any better and the weekend had a rocky start. Scott didn't get home until 10pm on Friday night and then had to back in to the hospital Saturday morning/early afternoon. We did manage to have a date night Saturday night with no "beep-beep's". We went out to a steakhouse and it almost killed me inside when I ordered my steak medium-well. In my mind there's only one way to cook a good steak and that's medium-rare, but apparently the pregnancy guru's don't agree. After we were finished eating our waitress came up to me and said, "Okay, now that you're sitting back I can see your pregnant, Congratulations!" Anyway we talked for a bit and then she said I was the most beautiful pregnant woman she's ever seen. Of course I was flattered, but I also wanted to say of course everyone is beautiful when they're barely showing; face, ankles, and hands aren't swollen and I am still wearing a non-maternity dress; how about I come back in 20 weeks when I'm huge and swollen and see if she thinks the same thing then! Scott thought I should have played with her and told her I wasn't pregant just to see her facial expression...now that would have just been mean. Anyway, no pics from our date night.

And of course, Sunday, Scott's last day on call did not start off any better. As we're sitting in church his pager goes off, so after the service we took off to the hospital. I decided to go with him since I had never seen the hospital and where he works. We managed to get back in time to check out one of the Cleveland Metroparks: Bradley Woods Reservation. We took Bailey along and she loved it! There are several metroparks around the Cleveland area and I can't wait to go back when the leaves are turning, I'm sure it's beautiful.

Here's a picture of the bull frog we saw. You can see his head popping out of the water.
