Just Keep Running

Yesterday I started a running program. And it only took me 3 months after having Brett to get motivated. I tried to start working out several times before, going from 4 times a week to then missing 2 weeks. I just thought a shower or a clean house was more important than working out...well that's not the case anymore. I may smell and have grease dripping from my hair and have 4 inches of dust in the house, but at least I'll get a workout in. I started a couch to 5K treadmill program. It's fairly easy, it's an 8 week program requiring me to run 3-4 times a week and incorporates walking with running. By doing this hopefully I won't get bored as it will change up every week and it won't overwork me so that I quit after a week. And now that I've announced it to the world (and by world, I mean the 2, maybe 3 of you that read this blog) there's no way I can quit.

Baby and The City

Last weekend we took Brett on his very first road trip to visit friends in Chicago. Scott and I have wanted to go visit one last time before moving back to Oklahoma and we were finally able to find the time. Brett did so well. We stopped once to feed and change him there and back and the whole time we were in the car he slept. Now if only our drive home will be that easy in June (wishful thinking)!

We were tourists all over again, we took Brett to Giordano's for a some deep-dish pizza, did a little shopping and walked around the parks. Hopefully, one day we'll make it back when he's older to show him all around where mommy and daddy once lived (I think living in Chicago will make us exceptionally cooler in his eyes).

I realized on this trip how much I missed the city, but at the same time I'm happy to be where we are now. I'll always miss the skyline, the lights, all the excitement and the city life in general, but I will not miss high-rise living, the "L", cabs and the cold! It was March, it should be at least pleasant.

Chicago will always have a special place in my heart. We made wonderful friends and lot of great memories that I will always cherish!

Cry Baby

You may think judging by the title I'm calling my 3 month old a cry baby, but you'd be wrong. I'm talking about this baby's momma...(I guess I could just say myself, but sometimes it's fun to talk in third person). I now take all those snickers and rolls of the eye that I gave my mom for crying about us girls back. It's true, having a baby makes even the most none emotional person (again referring to myself) watery eyed. And why is it that the things I choose to cry about are the things that I'm most happy about? I cried when we moved Brett from our room to his room, the first time he smiled and then the other day when he laughed for the first time. And it makes me want to cry knowing that my little baby is already 3 months old!

I guess all I can say to myself in this instance is welcome to motherhood and to a lifetime of tears-happy and sad! And yes, Brett, justa wait you too will be embarrassed of all my crying, but I will say to you what my mom said to me, "Just wait until you become a parent."

Out Numbered

Brett was a little out numbered this past weekend when my very best friends came to visit, but I don't think he cared too much. And I think he enjoyed all the shopping trips too.

Little man, you have a lot of women in your life so I guess you better get used to it early.

Life's Too Short...

So make sure you stop and smell the roses
