Capturing "The Belly"

I always love the beautiful maternity pictures that I see so I decided that I too wanted to capture this awesome moment in our lives. Instead of going somewhere to have them taken, I just had my mom snap some pictures of us in our backyard.

It was perfect timing. The beautiful leaves were falling from the trees.

And for a good laugh:
Scott was laughing so hard because he thought this pose was awkward, but of course I thought it was going to be soooo cute...well turns out it was awkward and even funnier because he's laughing.

4 more weeks until we meet our precious baby who I'm sure will be the "most beautiful baby in the world"**

**That one's for you mom : )

Lions, Tigers, and Bears

Brett's pseudo-6 month room is ready! Since we'll be moving (again) 6 months after Brett's born we didn't want to do too much with the room, plus we still needed a place for our guests to stay, but at the same time we wanted to give him a special place. And truth be told I just really needed something to do to exert all of my nesting craziness.

We decided to go with a jungle theme: giraffes, elephants and lions. Scott's grandma is painting these animals on canvas and we can't wait to see them!

Thanks mom for the awesome curtains! I think the "oops" really makes the curtains. They look great! Thanks dad for helping us hang the curtains and all the other items I was shoving your way! And thanks to my hubs for assembling the crib, painting the dresser and the "B" and of course putting up with my constant indecisiveness with everything!

We're almost all ready for the little guy now. I'm giving him my permission to make his appearance in 3-5 weeks (for his health not much earlier than that and for my sanity not any later than that). Oh it's not up to me?!?! Hmmm, guess I'll just have to go with it then.

Amish Country

This past weekend my parents came to visit and help us finish the nursery. On Friday, we took a trip to the Amish country. It was beautiful. Lots of rolling hills and trees and it was really neat seeing everyone travel by horse and buggy. Here are some pictures from our trip.

Our first stop was Smucker's:
Hmmm, who's bigger, me or the Pillsbury Dough Boy?!?!
Lots and lots of jelly and jam.
We ate a wonderful lunch at Mrs. Yoder's. The homemade peanut butter, apple butter and bread was definitely my favorite. I didn't capture a picture of it but we also tried a mustard pickled egg and a beet flavored pickled egg. The mustard egg was definitely the best.
We thought it was neat how they stored the corn.
It was obviously laundry day. Everyone had their laundry hanging out to dry. Then again when you have a large family and no dryer I'm sure every day is laundry day.
A lot of families had deer that they raised. Scott couldn't get over the rack on this deer.
The beautiful countryside.

Kids Say the Darndist Things

In September I began teaching 4 and 5 year olds at our church. I absolutely love this age. They remind me to "have the faith of a child"; they love hearing about Jesus and all of the bible stories and love Jesus so much.

But tonight, they just said some of the darndist things:

As he's patting my belly: "Miss Whitney, that doesn't look or feel like a baby in your tummy."

Tonight was family night so I asked one of the little girls to introduce her family member. She said, "This is my grandma.", I asked "What's grandma's name", little girl "Uh, grandma" (as she's giving me the "I just told you her name look").

I was going to write a lot more, but apparently I'm having a bit of pregnancy brain right now because I can only remember those 2.

New Goal

Guess who gained 5 lbs in two weeks?!?!

Scott, no.
Bailey, no.
Give up? It was a hard question after all.

That would be ME! Oops...

So my goal to gain 27.5 lbs has been thrown out the window. The culprits that have helped me blow this goal you ask: sweets, exhaustion, and the fact that I have completely stopped working out.

New goal: Walk/Elliptical 30 minutes every day.

Guess I better go put the tennis shoes on and get started!
